Unhappy Mom Looking in Mirror

Mother’s Day will be here before you know it. As a mom, you deserve the world this year. A mommy makeover could be exactly what you need. This comprehensive procedure has numerous benefits and will remind you that it’s okay to take time for yourself.

It Includes Multiple Procedures

A mommy makeover is a customizable treatment that can combine nearly any number of plastic surgery procedures. Many women seek a mommy makeover to address the wide range of changes that happen to their body during pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding.

Our patients typically pursue one or more of the following as part of their mommy makeovers:

When you visit our office for an initial consultation, Dr. Brown will ask about your surgical goals to determine what combination of procedures would be best for you.

It Reminds You to Take Time for Yourself

Mothers are selfless people who put their children, significant others and loved ones’ needs above their own. A mommy makeover lets you focus completely on yourself for a change.

After the treatment, our patients often report feeling more:

  • Beautiful and feminine
  • Sexy and attractive
  • Self-assured in social, professional and romantic situations

A mommy makeover is a gift that repays you for everything you do for others in your life.

It Can Improve Your Confidence

A mommy makeover has many intangible benefits. One of the most important being the ability to improve your confidence in your body image.

Pregnancy and childbirth, while wonderful experiences, can take a toll on your body. While you’re trying to enjoy motherhood, you may be left feeling self-conscious about your figure.

How you feel about your body can extend to many areas of your life. A mommy makeover has the power to address all the areas on your body that you’d like to enhance. Common concerns the procedure can target include:

  • Stretched, loose and excess abdominal skin
  • Sagging, drooping and deflated breasts
  • Asymmetrical breasts and lost breast volume
  • Pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise
  • Stretch marks and noticeable C-section scars

The Results Last for Years

Unlike other gifts you could give yourself, a mommy makeover will last for years. A healthy diet and regular exercise will help you maintain your results long term.

Consider the gift of a mommy makeover this Mother’s Day. Every time you look in the mirror following the procedure, you’ll feel good knowing you did something to refresh your appearance and improve your well-being.

If you’re a woman looking for a cosmetic surgeon to help you achieve your desired aesthetic, it’s worth your time to search for a doctor who’s not only qualified and experienced, but is of your same gender. Learn why having a female plastic surgeon can make everything from your initial consultation and surgical procedure to your post-op appointments more comfortable.

Understanding the Female Anatomy & the Challenges Females Face

While all plastic surgeons want you to feel more confident in your appearance, a woman can better understand your body and why you’re seeking plastic surgery. Some of the most popular plastic surgery procedures, including breast augmentation, liposuction and tummy tucks, are often sought by women who want to restore their bodies after inherently female experiences, such as pregnancy or breastfeeding. As a female plastic surgeon and mother of four, Dr. Hayley Brown can help you translate your treatment goals into realistic outcomes.

Ability to Connect With You on a Personal Level

Nearly half of American women prefer being treated by a female doctor, for good reason. Studies have shown that women use communication to discover and share, whereas men like to have a direct purpose and get straight to the point. Since plastic surgery involves first meeting with your surgeon for a consultation, you want to know that they will listen to what you have to say and attempt to uncover your feelings about the process before proceeding with surgery.

Dr. Hayley Brown’s initial consultation is designed to make you feel comfortable before surgery. She takes the time to discuss your surgical goals and expected outcomes, as well as the surgery and recovery process. She makes it a point to address any questions or concerns you may have, and she focuses on recommending the right procedure(s) for you.

Can Show You the Sensitivity & Compassion You Need

Opening up to a stranger about your insecurities can be nerve-wracking. A female plastic surgeon has likely dealt with many of the same feelings you have in regard to your body and its aging process.

With a female plastic surgeon, you can trust that you’ll be treated with the utmost compassion. You may also feel more comfortable showing another woman the areas of your body you’d like to enhance without fear of judgment.

Aesthetic surgery statistics in 2017Each year, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons releases an annual report featuring statistics from the previous year.

Aesthetic surgery statistics in 2017Each year, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons releases an annual report featuring statistics from the previous year. These statistics are reported by ASPS member surgeons across the country, giving us a comprehensive picture of plastic surgery trends in America. Now that we've had a chance to look at the recently released 2017 stats, we know that the usual top procedures have maintained their standings and that a couple other procedures have risen in their rankings. Read more below and then give us a call to talk about your aesthetic surgery plans! Dr. Hayley Brown is a board-certified plastic surgeon in the Las Vegas area. She looks forward to discussing your goals and helping you choose an aesthetic treatment plan. To arrange a consultation, please call Desert Hills Plastic Surgery Center at 702-260-7707.

Non-Surgical Popularity Continues to Grow

Minimally invasive procedures provide effective aesthetic results without surgery or downtime, and at a greatly reduced upfront cost compared to surgery. It's no wonder they maintained their popularity in 2017. Here are the top 5, ranked by how many treatments were reported by ASPS surgeons in 2017:

ASPS reports a grand total 15.7 million minimally invasive treatments performed last year. In Nevada, a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment can be a great way to prep for the upcoming Spring and Summer seasons. Because downtime is minimal to non-existent, you can get back to your routine quickly. And if you arrange your appointment soon, you'll be ready for your summer vacation with your results ready to go.

More Women Getting Breast Reductions

Breast reduction increased significantly in 2017, by 11 percent compared to the previous year, with nearly 44,000 procedures performed. Prior to that, the procedure had been experiencing slight decreases from year to year. So what could be the explanation? It's impossible to know for sure. But we do know that breast reduction can have considerable benefits for women living with the discomfort caused by excessively large and heavy breasts, such as:

  • Back, neck and shoulder pain
  • Discomfort while exercising and being active
  • Emotional discomfort tied to the way your bust looks in tops and dresses
  • Emotional discomfort tied to difficulty finding flattering clothes that fit you well
  • Physical discomfort caused by chafing or rashes beneath your breasts
  • Physical discomfort caused by bra straps digging into your shoulders

Plastic surgery results in Las VegasPerhaps in 2017 women were better informed about the benefits of breast reduction, and the possibility of insurance coverage when it is deemed medically necessary. Women deserve to know their options for achieving the body they want, as well as the physical and emotional comfort they deserve. Breast reduction is something you can learn all about during a consultation with Dr. Brown.

Tummy Tucks Back in the Top 5

In 2017, tummy tuck surgery regained its position in the Top 5 procedures. It had fallen out of that list in 2016. But last year, 2,000 more tummy tucks were performed than were performed in 2016. There were almost 130,000 tummy tucks in 2017.

Tummy tuck surgery can be a great option if you want to reduce excess fat and puffy skin on your abdomen. It can also repair abdominal muscles that have been stretched and separated during pregnancy. A tauter, smooth tummy with improved muscle tone are the results you can expect.

Things to Know Beforehand

Las Vegas mommy makeoverHoping for an honest, clear picture of the procedure before you decide whether to have a mommy makeover? Rely on Dr. Brown and our team. When you visit for a consultation, we'll make sure you get all the information you need in order to make a decision.

Here are some things you may want to know:

  • It's okay to put yourself first. As a mom, you probably don't often put your own needs first. Maybe never! A mommy makeover can feel self-centered to some moms at first, but it's important to realize that your needs and wishes matter. Feeling good about yourself allows you to be the best version of yourself.
  • Your shape will continue to improve as swelling subsides. Especially for a tummy tuck and breast augmentation, you may at first be surprised by the amount of swelling after surgery. Swelling is completely normal and expected. You will see your new shape take form over several weeks as the swelling subsides.
  • Fitness can aid your recovery. A healthy lifestyle can help your body heal after surgery. A mommy makeover pairs well with an active lifestyle because it eliminates sagging and pockets of fat that exercise cannot change. It will also help to be as close as possible to your ideal weight before surgery. The procedures themselves are not a way to lose weight, but instead a way to refine certain areas of the body.
  • The results may look pre-baby, or even better! A mommy makeover isn't so much about making you look exactly as you did before you were a mother as it is about providing a way to look and feel like the best version of yourself. Your procedures will be carefully tailored to the look you want. You deserve to feel rejuvenated, refreshed and confident because of the mommy makeover.

If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to give us a call. We may be able to answer many of your questions over the phone, or we can arrange a consultation for you.

Tips for a Successful Recovery

Immediately after surgery you should get up and walk around periodically, about every 3 hours or so. You'll have to take time off from most other exercise for about 4-6 weeks, which Dr. Brown will discuss with you in further detail. Here are some things you can do to prepare for the day of surgery:

  • Make sure there aren't any chores, errands or tasks waiting for you at home. It could take up to two weeks to feel fully back to normal.
  • Rely on spousal and/or family support to help with children. For the first few days at least, you shouldn't be driving your children to and from school, preparing meals or otherwise performing the main childcare responsibilities. A spouse or family member is very helpful during this time to take over those responsibilities.
  • Create a pleasant place to relax before your surgical appointment. You should have a comfortable place to rest after your procedure. You may want to prep the area with pillows, books, movies or other things that will help you relax. Many women sleep in a reclining chair after a mommy makeover, because the recliner allows you to keep tension off of any abdominal sutures.

Our team will be available to address any concerns or questions you have after surgery, and before.

Common Questions About Mommy Makeovers

Mommy makeover patient Las VegasYou may have questions. We hope you will call Desert Hills Plastic Surgery Center for answers. We may be able to answer your questions over the phone, and we can also arrange a consultation for you with Dr. Brown. Here are some common questions:

How much will it cost? The cost of the procedure varies. It depends on which breast and body surgeries are incorporated. To get a custom estimate, please arrange a consultation with Dr. Brown. Our office will describe cost as well as financing options.

Can I still have children? Yes, none of the procedures will prevent you from getting pregnant and having a healthy pregnancy; however, you may want to wait until you are not planning for any more children. The reason has to do with your results. If you have more children, the pregnancies will likely change the results of your body and breast procedures. But the choice is ultimately yours, and Dr. Brown will be able to help you decide.

Is it completed in a single appointment? Most often, yes. In some cases, multiple surgeries may be scheduled. But it's ideal to have everything completed in a single appointment.

Will there be scars? Yes, all cosmetic surgeries leave scars. Dr. Brown prioritizes minimal incisions placed in the most inconspicuous areas possible. Your scars will also lighten in color and flatten out about a year or so after surgery. Depending on the procedures, your scars should be in areas that are easily concealed with clothing, swimsuits and undergarments.

When can I get back to the gym (or back to my chosen physical activities)? It depends on the type of physical exertion. In general, most activity needs to be delayed for 4-6 weeks to let your body heal. But walking around is certainly required immediately after surgery and in the weeks following. Dr. Brown and our team will let you know how you can gradually resume intensive physical activity.
