Does a Breast Lift Reduce Bra Cup Size?

You may have heard that a breast lift will reduce your bust size, ultimately changing the size bra you need to wear. Here are two things to consider:

  • Dr. Hayley Brown knows this is a concern for women considering a breast lift. During your consultation, she will assess the degree of breast ptosis and the amount of breast tissue currently. She will talk to you about how you want your breasts to look with size as one of the characteristics. She will then make a surgical recommendation and let you know what you can expect from the results.
  • It’s reasonable to expect you may need to update your bra sizing after this procedure. Any breast surgery, including mastopexy, changes the shape of the breasts themselves. Therefore, you may find that you need to update your bras afterward. Any change in shape, especially when a lot of unnecessary tissue is removed, may mean your bras fit differently. It’s not necessarily that your breasts are smaller, but that your bras don’t have to accommodate all that unnecessary tissue.
  • Dr. Brown tailors your procedure to you. A lift can be combined with breast implants if you want to make your breasts larger, firmer and perkier. The lift can be performed alone, or a lift can even be combined with reduction techniques. Dr. Brown’s objective is to personalize your procedure so you can feel confident and happy with the results.

Dr. Brown discusses all of these issues with you during your one-on-one consultation. She wants to make sure you are excited about any treatment plan you ultimately choose. She will also make sure you know what to expect from the options.
