Mother’s Day will be here before you know it. As a mom, you deserve the world this year. A mommy makeover could be exactly what you need. This comprehensive procedure has numerous benefits and will remind you that it’s okay to take time for yourself.

It Includes Multiple Procedures

A mommy makeover is a customizable treatment that can combine nearly any number of plastic surgery procedures. Many women seek a mommy makeover to address the wide range of changes that happen to their body during pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding.

Our patients typically pursue one or more of the following as part of their mommy makeovers:

When you visit our office for an initial consultation, Dr. Brown will ask about your surgical goals to determine what combination of procedures would be best for you.

It Reminds You to Take Time for Yourself

Mothers are selfless people who put their children, significant others and loved ones’ needs above their own. A mommy makeover lets you focus completely on yourself for a change.

After the treatment, our patients often report feeling more:

  • Beautiful and feminine
  • Sexy and attractive
  • Self-assured in social, professional and romantic situations

A mommy makeover is a gift that repays you for everything you do for others in your life.

It Can Improve Your Confidence

A mommy makeover has many intangible benefits. One of the most important being the ability to improve your confidence in your body image.

Pregnancy and childbirth, while wonderful experiences, can take a toll on your body. While you’re trying to enjoy motherhood, you may be left feeling self-conscious about your figure.

How you feel about your body can extend to many areas of your life. A mommy makeover has the power to address all the areas on your body that you’d like to enhance. Common concerns the procedure can target include:

  • Stretched, loose and excess abdominal skin
  • Sagging, drooping and deflated breasts
  • Asymmetrical breasts and lost breast volume
  • Pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise
  • Stretch marks and noticeable C-section scars

The Results Last for Years

Unlike other gifts you could give yourself, a mommy makeover will last for years. A healthy diet and regular exercise will help you maintain your results long term.

Consider the gift of a mommy makeover this Mother’s Day. Every time you look in the mirror following the procedure, you’ll feel good knowing you did something to refresh your appearance and improve your well-being.

A mommy makeover is a term used to describe a combination of breast and body procedures that are most commonly used to refresh and reshape a woman’s post-pregnancy body. Because of this, our patients tend to believe that a mommy makeover is only for mothers. However, since a mommy makeover includes multiple plastic surgery procedures tailored to your needs, it can be performed whether or not you’ve had children.

Mommy Makeovers for Mothers

A mommy makeover is often performed on women who’ve experienced bodily changes during pregnancy and childbirth. Typically, a mommy makeover includes one or more of the following procedures:Woman in Bra and Underwear After Mommy Makeover

  • Breast augmentation: This can restore shape to breasts affected by pregnancy and breastfeeding.

  • Breast lift: This can give you a perkier look and correct stretched or drooping breasts.

  • Breast reduction: This can reduce the appearance of overly large and sagging breasts.

  • Tummy tuck: This can remove excess skin in your midsection while tightening your belly and adnominal wall muscles. It can also treat diastasis recti.

  • Liposuction: This can remove pockets of fat throughout your body.

Both new and seasoned moms seek mommy makeovers with Dr. Hayley Brown. If you plan to have multiple children, the procedure is not recommended until you’ve completed your family. Having a mommy makeover before then could negatively affect your results.

Similarly, nursing moms will need to wait until they’re done breastfeeding before proceeding with a mommy makeover. This gives breasts time to return to a stable shape and size.

While these stipulations may limit what procedures should be performed, moms looking to enhance their appearance could benefit from one of our facial or non-surgical treatments in the meantime.

Other Candidates for Mommy Makeovers

What if you’re not planning on having children but still want to improve aspects of your figure and form? If you feel self-conscious showing off your body in a swimsuit or in front of your significant other, a mommy makeover may be able to help. Likewise, those who’ve lost a significant amount of weight but are still unhappy with their appearance could benefit from body contouring and other mommy makeover procedures designed to tighten and lift skin.

A mommy makeover at Desert Hills Plastic Surgery Center is individualized to fit your treatment goals while being mindful of your health. Though you may not be a mother, Dr. Brown may suggest a mommy makeover to help you address one or more of the following concerns:

  • Fat that’s resistant to diet and exercise
  • A disproportionate body contour
  • A saggy, stretched or protruding abdomen
  • Asymmetrical, unusually shaped, or significantly small or large breasts
  • Breasts that have lost their shape or appear deflated
  • Nipples and/or areolas that are enlarged or point downward

You will need to be in good general health and at a stable weight before having a mommy makeover. This will help you have more positive treatment outcomes.

Mothers and non-mothers choose mommy makeovers for quite similar reasons — a mommy makeover can help you love your body and feel more confident in your skin. And because a mommy makeover is customized to each patient, you can undergo several procedures at once for reduced recovery time and a fully rejuvenated body!

Mom holding baby and doing yoga at homeSure, celebrities talk about how their bodies "bounce back" after pregnancy and re-committing to fitness. But what about the rest of us? After having a baby, you may notice that the skin is not completely returning to normal despite efforts like crunches, running, weight lifting, dieting, etc. To smooth out stubborn bumps, bulges and puffy skin, the plastic surgery approach known as a mommy makeover may be called for.

We've provided some general information below. For more details, please call Desert Hills Plastic Surgery Center in Las Vegas at 702-260-7707.

What is it?

A mommy makeover generally refers to a customized set of plastic surgery procedures. The exact procedures included depend on your goals and desired results. Because pregnancy changes the appearance of the breasts, belly, arms, thighs and buttocks, these are some of the most common treatment areas. But a mommy makeover will treat virtually any area of your body that you want to improve.

Length of the Recovery

As a mom, you don't get a lot of time for yourself. Many women interested in cosmetic surgery who come to Dr. Hayley Brown for a consultation express concern about recovery time. Sometimes it can be difficult to find a spare hour to yourself in a day, let alone weeks to recover. Fortunately, we can help you plan these types of logistics.

The length of downtime depends on which procedures you choose. You may need to stay home from work for a week or two. You will need to take time off from intensive exercise for a few weeks or longer. For the first day or so, you will need a spouse or family member to help with childcare, meals, errands and household chores. Once we learn more about you, we can give you exact timelines so that you can plan accordingly.

What It Restores

After pregnancy and childbirth, you may be interested in cosmetic surgery to address the following:

There is a wide array of procedures targeted at these physical changes. For the very best results, you should be at or near your ideal weight and fitness level. If you plan to lose a lot more weight and get the procedures now, you may find that the results are no longer matched to your current body shape later on. Talk to Dr. Brown about whether you are ready now.

Cosmetic surgery is an effective way to reconstruct aspects of your pre-baby body, but also to enjoy a body shape that is perhaps tighter and better defined than you had before. Dr. Brown's goal is to help you look and feel your best. She does so by getting to know you and what changes you'd like to see. She tailors her recommendations to you as an individual.

Having Another Baby after a Mom Makeover

Yes, you can have more children after cosmetic surgery. These procedures will not prevent or otherwise interfere with pregnancy. Here's the only catch: Another pregnancy could change the results you receive from a mommy makeover. So you could see a return to saggy skin, lumps and bumps. But that doesn't mean you necessarily have to delay surgery until you plan for no more children. Dr. Brown will give you the details you need to make an informed decision about timing.

Areas of Your Face

The contour of your face and neck can be sculpted with liposuction. These are the main treatment areas:

  • Neck
  • Chin
  • Jaw line
  • Lower face

These delicate areas can be treated quite effectively with liposuction. Double chins, fatty necks and poorly defined jaw lines can be treated with this procedure in many cases. Dr. Brown creates incisions carefully, in a way that they are well-hidden and as minimal as possible. The fat is broken up and suctioned away. The removed fat cells are gone for good.

Areas of Your Body

The body areas treatable with liposuction include:

  • Arms
  • Chest
  • Breasts
  • Waist
  • Abdomen
  • Back
  • Inner knees
  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Buttocks

Liposuction is great for reducing fat in all those areas that society has lovingly nicknamed: bra rolls, banana rolls, muffin tops and love handles! Although it is still possible to gain weight after the procedure, the removed cells are gone permanently. Most people feel even more motivated to pursue a healthy lifestyle, fitness and a stable weight once they see their results.

Who Gets Liposuction?

Father with dad bod working out before liposuction sculpting-Men, women, moms, dads, brides-to-be, single people, married people – liposuction demographics run the gamut. One of the most interesting points is that both men and women get liposuction. According to statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, in 2017 there were 218,174 women who underwent liposuction. Women did make up 89 percent of lipo patients that year. But men sought the procedure as well, with 28,180 males opting for this body-shaping technique last year. Men made up 11 percent of total liposuction procedures.

Moms interested in sculpting their contours post-baby are also often the guests interested in liposuction. After pregnancy, you may have lost weight but find that some of the fat still lingers no matter how many crunches you do. With liposuction, you can get rid of these fat cells and smooth out those bulges.

Schedule Your Consultation with Dr. Brown

The next step in the process is to find out if you are a good candidate for liposuction. To do this, Dr. Brown will discuss your goals with you and perform an examination of the intended treatment area. Once she examines the fat in that area, she will know whether liposuction is appropriate. It is most suitable for people who are already at or near their ideal weight, but have isolated, persistent fat that remains. To schedule your consultation in the Las Vegas area, please call Desert Hills Plastic Surgery Center at 702-260-7707.

To contact our office in Henderson, please call 702-260-7707. Dr. Brown founded Desert Hills Plastic Surgery Center in 2000, and she has been helping people restore and rejuvenate their bodies ever since.

Below are some of the most common questions regarding this procedure. This list certainly is not exhaustive and we encourage you to give us a call for more information.

Should I wait until I don't plan for any more kids?

The best results are achieved when a woman does not plan to have more children; however, you can certainly have more kids after a mommy makeover. The primary consideration is how pregnancy affects your results. If you become pregnant, you may find your tummy and breast results will revert to some degree, similar to before your mommy makeover.

Having said that, many women have more children after their mommy makeovers. It is one important factor that Dr. Brown will help you consider. If you choose not to have a full makeover now, there may be certain procedures that will still work well for you.

If I do become pregnant after a mommy makeover, will I be able to breastfeed?

Breast enhancement as part of a mommy makeover in Henderson NVYou may be concerned about breastfeeding any future children if you elect breast procedures. The vast majority of women are able to breastfeed after augmentation, breast lifts or breast reductions. There is a slight risk that certain incisions near the nipple could interfere with breastfeeding, but this tends not to be significant risk. Some women are unable to breastfeed altogether, regardless of plastic surgery. Depending on your plans for more children, Dr. Brown will help you decide if a breast procedure may be right for you, right now.

Which procedures should I choose?

The most common approach is to include some combination of breast enhancement, tummy tuck and liposuction. But the exact combination will be tailored to your unique goals. Dr. Brown has been performing mommy makeovers for nearly two decades. She has the experience and knowledge to help you choose the cosmetic treatments that match your goals. She is personally committed to helping her patients restore their confidence in their bodies.

How long before I can get back to my routine?

Cosmetic surgery does require some time off from work, running errands, and getting the kids to and from activities. It is very helpful to arrange for a spouse, parent or other family member or friend to help out with some of these things. Dr. Brown will discuss specific timelines with you as you decide which procedures you want. Some require as little as a week of downtime, while others may require a few weeks.

How much will it cost?

Each procedure has different pricing. Please visit our pricing page, and arrange a consultation to get a personalized quote. We also offer financing options.

Things to Know Beforehand

Las Vegas mommy makeoverHoping for an honest, clear picture of the procedure before you decide whether to have a mommy makeover? Rely on Dr. Brown and our team. When you visit for a consultation, we'll make sure you get all the information you need in order to make a decision.

Here are some things you may want to know:

  • It's okay to put yourself first. As a mom, you probably don't often put your own needs first. Maybe never! A mommy makeover can feel self-centered to some moms at first, but it's important to realize that your needs and wishes matter. Feeling good about yourself allows you to be the best version of yourself.
  • Your shape will continue to improve as swelling subsides. Especially for a tummy tuck and breast augmentation, you may at first be surprised by the amount of swelling after surgery. Swelling is completely normal and expected. You will see your new shape take form over several weeks as the swelling subsides.
  • Fitness can aid your recovery. A healthy lifestyle can help your body heal after surgery. A mommy makeover pairs well with an active lifestyle because it eliminates sagging and pockets of fat that exercise cannot change. It will also help to be as close as possible to your ideal weight before surgery. The procedures themselves are not a way to lose weight, but instead a way to refine certain areas of the body.
  • The results may look pre-baby, or even better! A mommy makeover isn't so much about making you look exactly as you did before you were a mother as it is about providing a way to look and feel like the best version of yourself. Your procedures will be carefully tailored to the look you want. You deserve to feel rejuvenated, refreshed and confident because of the mommy makeover.

If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to give us a call. We may be able to answer many of your questions over the phone, or we can arrange a consultation for you.

Tips for a Successful Recovery

Immediately after surgery you should get up and walk around periodically, about every 3 hours or so. You'll have to take time off from most other exercise for about 4-6 weeks, which Dr. Brown will discuss with you in further detail. Here are some things you can do to prepare for the day of surgery:

  • Make sure there aren't any chores, errands or tasks waiting for you at home. It could take up to two weeks to feel fully back to normal.
  • Rely on spousal and/or family support to help with children. For the first few days at least, you shouldn't be driving your children to and from school, preparing meals or otherwise performing the main childcare responsibilities. A spouse or family member is very helpful during this time to take over those responsibilities.
  • Create a pleasant place to relax before your surgical appointment. You should have a comfortable place to rest after your procedure. You may want to prep the area with pillows, books, movies or other things that will help you relax. Many women sleep in a reclining chair after a mommy makeover, because the recliner allows you to keep tension off of any abdominal sutures.

Our team will be available to address any concerns or questions you have after surgery, and before.

Common Questions About Mommy Makeovers

Mommy makeover patient Las VegasYou may have questions. We hope you will call Desert Hills Plastic Surgery Center for answers. We may be able to answer your questions over the phone, and we can also arrange a consultation for you with Dr. Brown. Here are some common questions:

How much will it cost? The cost of the procedure varies. It depends on which breast and body surgeries are incorporated. To get a custom estimate, please arrange a consultation with Dr. Brown. Our office will describe cost as well as financing options.

Can I still have children? Yes, none of the procedures will prevent you from getting pregnant and having a healthy pregnancy; however, you may want to wait until you are not planning for any more children. The reason has to do with your results. If you have more children, the pregnancies will likely change the results of your body and breast procedures. But the choice is ultimately yours, and Dr. Brown will be able to help you decide.

Is it completed in a single appointment? Most often, yes. In some cases, multiple surgeries may be scheduled. But it's ideal to have everything completed in a single appointment.

Will there be scars? Yes, all cosmetic surgeries leave scars. Dr. Brown prioritizes minimal incisions placed in the most inconspicuous areas possible. Your scars will also lighten in color and flatten out about a year or so after surgery. Depending on the procedures, your scars should be in areas that are easily concealed with clothing, swimsuits and undergarments.

When can I get back to the gym (or back to my chosen physical activities)? It depends on the type of physical exertion. In general, most activity needs to be delayed for 4-6 weeks to let your body heal. But walking around is certainly required immediately after surgery and in the weeks following. Dr. Brown and our team will let you know how you can gradually resume intensive physical activity.
