What Happens During a Chin Liposuction Appointment

close up of young woman's face with nicely contouring chin after getting chin liposuction Are you thinking about getting liposuction in your chin to refine your jawline? If so, you may have questions about what happens during the procedure, how you’ll feel afterward, and how long recovery takes.

Dr. Hayley Brown, a board-certified plastic surgeon with decades of experience, performs liposuction procedures with the highest safety standards in our accredited outpatient surgery center. Here’s what your appointment will look like at Desert Hills Plastic Surgery in Henderson, Nevada, from consultation to recovery.

Before Your Chin Liposuction Procedure

Your first step is a consultation with Dr. Brown. She’ll examine your chin and jawline, explain how the procedure works, and discuss whether you’re a good candidate for chin liposuction

This is a great time to ask any questions, see before-and-after photos, and get a clear idea of what kind of results you can expect.

Once you decide to move forward, we’ll give you instructions to prepare for surgery. You may need to avoid certain medications or supplements for a short time to minimize bruising.

Wear something comfortable on the day of your procedure and plan for someone to drive you home afterward.

During Your Chin Liposuction Appointment

The procedure itself usually takes about an hour. Before we get started, you’ll receive either local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Steve Brown, our board-certified anesthesiologist, will make sure you’re completely comfortable.

Once you’re ready, Dr. Hayley Brown will make tiny, discreet incisions under your chin or behind your ears. She’ll use a small tube called a cannula to gently remove fat and sculpt your jawline.

When the procedure is finished, she’ll place a compression garment around your chin.

Recovery After Chin Liposuction

Expect some swelling and bruising for the first few days, but most of it fades within a week. Wear your compression garment as directed to help everything heal properly.

You can probably return to work in just a few days, though it may take a few weeks for all the swelling to go down. Full results should show up within a few months as everything settles.
