One of the major concerns of a patient undergoing breast lift surgery is the resultant scar. Stretch marks are scars. Interestingly, stretch marks on the breast look better after mastopexy. Mastopexy surgery, and breast tightening and contouring involves incisions and permanent scars result. All patients heal differently. At least one full year is required for scar maturation, at which point the scars fade and blend well into surrounding skin. There is no way to tighten the breast tissue and skin, raise the nipple, and elevate the breast without scars. Young patients, entertainers on the Las Vegas Strip, mothers, and all different types of people are extremely happy with the results of surgery, despite the scarring. Significant others may be a little hesitant at first, but quickly change their tone after their partner looks and feels youthful and sexy again. Clothes and swimwear look attractive and fit well. After mastopexy, women don’t have to make frequent adjustments in their clothes anymore. Women with sagging get aggravated on a daily basis adjusting their undergarments, moving the nipples around so they point in the right direction, and stuffing overflowing skin back into the confines of their bra. It’s also nice not to have to worry about lying down on your side as the loose and deflated skin falls into your armpits. For these reasons, there is a very high rate of satisfaction after breast lift surgery. Women do not end up complaining of their scars and wishing their sagging breasts back.

Some women and their significant others are simply opposed to scarring on the breast and they find it unacceptable. These patients ought not have breast surgery and should stick with a padded push-up bra.
