Procedures
Medial Thigh Lift
Thigh Lift, Medical Term: Medial Thigh Lift
Who is a Candidate?
- Patients with loose, sagging skin, and abnormal contours of the upper inner thigh area
- Individuals who have had a massive weight loss, or gastric bypass surgery and subsequently have extra skin hanging along the medial thigh area
- Works best for patients of normal weight. If there is a significant fatty deposit in the area, I generally recommend a preliminary liposuction procedure to improve results
Goal of Surgery:
- To provide close to straight smooth contours in the upper inner thigh area
- To improve the condition when the skin and fat touches or rubs in the midline
- The procedure is not expected to improve the appearance of the lower third of the thigh or knee area
Procedure Description:
- An ellipse of skin and underlying fat is removed along the upper, inner aspect of the thigh, so that a resulting scar willl hide in the groin crease
- For severe cases, sometimes vertical excesses of skin may be removed along the inner aspect of the thigh
- Permanent sutures are used to lift and anchor the tissues and skin
- Drains are generally not used
- General Anesthesia is required
Postoperative Course:
- This area is quite sore, so pain catheters with oral pain medication help the discomfort
- Meticulous hygiene in the area is required with daily incision care
- Most patients spend one night in a nursing care facility after the procedure
- Walking is encouraged right away
- It takes 2-3 weeks for the incisions to heal, so most patients need at least 3 weeks off work
