Buttock Lift

Individuals with loose skin, sagging buttock tissues, usually as a result of massive weight loss. With the increase in bariatric procedures being performed, such as gastric bypass, this procedure is becoming more common
Some patients with generally lax skin or tissues as a result of genetics, pregnancy, or weight fluctuations, may also be good candidates for the procedure
You should be healthy and close to a normal weight

To tighten and lift the skin and fat from just above the buttock and along the flanks and lower back to provide elevation and improved contours of the buttocks, flanks, outer and posterior thighs
To reduce bulges along the hips and flanks and establish a smooth contour from the waistline, down along the side of the upper thighs
To reduce the appearance of wrinkled skin below the buttocks, and provide a rounder, more youthful contour to the buttocks
To improve the appearance of cellulite along the buttocks, upper and outer thighs

Skin and underlying fat is removed around the back of the waistline and along the lower back, hips and flanks, so that a resulting scar will hide within normal underwear or bikini bathing suit
Lifting of the skin and deeper tissues is performed along the lateral thigh and buttocks and skin is tightened with sutures
Some liposuction may be performed for localized fatty deposits along the outer thigh or saddle bag area
The procedure is done under general anesthesia, with an overnight stay after surgery in a nursing care facility

Pain pump catheters together with oral medication are used to help with discomfort
Walking is encouraged right after the procedure
Drainage tubes are in for about a week
Expect a 2-3 week recovery period, with a total of 6 weeks of no heavy excercise or strenuous activity
Swelling may persist around the incision for several months
